The Counselling & Follow-up ministry services both the church and community. The purpose of this department is to offer a shoulder of peace in the name of Jesus Christ. The department promotes biblical principle to handle situation and to overcome strongholds through the Holy Spirit and the word of God. Sharing sessions are held as and when the need arises, offering bible lessons, prayer, support and encouragement to live a fruitful life. The ministry also works with Evangelism. It is responsible for recording all information from new converts, and tracking them with regular phone calls to ensure that they are growing in the grace and knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ.
One thing unique about The WEC is the feeling and sense of family amongst those who have taken refuge under the banner of Christ in the church. This culture or atmosphere is maintained through specific projects that foster this sense. The Projects are created to design and project-manage programs that foster this culture. JOHN 13: 35-By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another. Projects to facilitate congregation cohesion, include: Couples away weekend – Helps to spice up and strengthen marriage and the home; Easter Family Fest – Supports integration of families within The WEC fellowship in an atmosphere of sports, food and entertainment. The WEC Anniversary Program – Focuses on end of year achievement of various departments and church fellowship party. Other activities that foster love expressions within the Events and Evangelism department include preparing the church auditorium for church service and other special events. They make preparations and planning for The WEC activities to be held in communities such as crusade and evangelism. They facilitate and provide the necessary materials and equipment for evangelism. The WEC as a word-based church, Evangelism is vital and a core mandate within the ministry. As our Pastor constantly reminds us, it is the "heartbeat" of the church. The Events and Evangelism Department's responsibility is to witness to those who may not attend regular church services. It is their job to spread the word through streets, jails & school ministries, hospitals, homes, and any place where they can be effective witnesses. "For if we cease to evangelize, we will eventually die".
The department promotes the spiritual growth and knowledge of the Bible. It serves as a school of ministry for those who have the call of God to preach and teach the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ under the ministry of the WEC. As members of the Ministry & Protocol Department, ministers are required to attend monthly meetings, in which they receive training on aspects of ministry, instruction in sermon preparation, and assignment schedules for weekly church services. Through the effective instruction of formal and informal courses of study, it offers "Sunday School" classes such as Basic Bible, Christian Lifestyles, and Children and Teen Classes. Also, the department is responsible for tending to the needs of the Pastor, guest Ministers and those serving during worship services. They must be readily available to provide any assistance when needed to the Pastor and various guests. The Ministry and Protocol Department is responsible for preparation for Communion and Baptism Services. The Nursery section is responsible for attending to all children from newborn to 3 years of age during service times. The Nursery duties is mainly caring for children, the members are individuals who carefully watch infants so parents may enjoy service without distraction. Proverbs 22:6-7 -Train up a child in the way he should go (teaching him to seek God’s wisdom and will for his abilities and talents), Even when he is old he will not depart from it. The rich rules over the poor, And the borrower is servant to the lender. Every week, the children, in age directed classes, are taught on principles of life from a biblical perspective. They are free to express themselves and have the opportunity to explore and ask questions. Periodically throughout the year, the children have presentations to the church in drama, songs and musical instrumentation. A Child Protection Policy will be in place and available for members. All volunteers/worker in this ministry have an added requirement to be child-friendly and opened to study continually on ways to take good care and protect children.
On a periodic, the Intercessory Prayer Ministry of the WEC, gather together to lift up the many needs of the church, families, the community, the nation and the world in corporate prayer. During this time, the prayer team members take turns sharing specific prayer needs that have been presented by way of a written or verbal request in addition to other needs discerned by the Holy Spirit. Many may question the need for an Intercessory Prayer Ministry but those who come together in corporate prayer not only realize the value of intercession but also the power of unity that exists when two or more are gathered (For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them. Matthew 18:20).
They oversee all aspects of automobile and people traffic in and out of the WEC premises we use. They are responsible for parking control, vehicle assistance and recovery, if and when needed. Some of these include replacing and/or inflating flat tyres, jump starting, parking and relocating cars. They are also responsible for security at all our functions and events of the WEC. They will work with the ushers for security purposes. For security reasons any suspicious activities or movements in the church premises is reported to the head of the department and as well the Ministry and Protocol member on duty.
The Media & Music Department of The WEC is responsible for sound engineering and having quality sound at all events in and pertaining to the Church. This department provides sound for all services and events such as crusades, weddings & special events. Inclusive of the department’s responsibilities, is recording of all sermons videos (and/or audios). They shall make available the recordings for purchase. They also take care of visual projection of scriptures, songs, messages; lighting, live streaming of messages, photography, message presentation and social media. The Praise and Worship team (The Pure Word Choir) is a part of this department, including the instrumentalists who lead members into the throne room. In accordance with scripture we know God dwells in the praises of His people, thus a worship session always precedes the Word. Psalm 22:3 -But You are Holy, O You who are enthroned in [the holy place where] the praises of Israel [are offered]. They minister at The WEC programs within and outside church. An audition and interview are a prerequisite for joining this team in addition to the Membership Class. Psalm 68:11-12: The Lord gave the word; great was the company of those who proclaimed it. Their work may be based on a Rota system and there is always on-going training for every member of this team.
The Transport Department of The WEC is responsible for all logistics movements to and fro from crusade grounds and other event grounds. The department will also convey members from various destinations and back for the WEC services and programs. All the WEC vehicles will be well taken care of by the department members, and they be responsible and supervise periodic maintenance of vehicles. The members shall report issues pertaining to the vehicles such us electrical and mechanical issues, oil changing, fueling, etc. to the head in charge of the department for prompt actions to be taken. Members using various vehicles must be proactive and report issues on time.
These are the Gate Keepers of the church, also referred to as the Ushering team. They take note of members, visitors or anyone accessing and visiting the building for Health, Safety and Security reasons during various occasions in the church. They communicate any unclear actions and movements to the security and a member of the Ministry and Protocol department on duty for support in taking the needed action. The responsibility of the Usher is to greet everyone with a pleasant smile. They oversee the welcoming, general comfort, the settling and sitting arrangements during services and programs week-in, week-out, throughout the year. They also facilitate donation collections, assist in the receiving of tithes and offerings during services, crowd control and the maintenance of orderly flow of proceedings during services. The Usher also distributes bulletins and visitor cards. The Bible enjoins us in, 1 Corinthians 14:40: Let all things be done decently and in order.
The Welfare Department’s mission is to reach out to the poor, destitute and those experiencing unexpected crisis by supplying food, clothing, housing and community resources and referrals. Members are committed to serving with compassion and at least available to provide vital human services to church members and various communities The WEC holds crusades, ultimately empowering them to be self-reliant. It also motivates students from kindergarten to the Senior High school and/or university. The Welfare Department provides scholarships, weekly tutoring, workshops on financial aid and career development programs. This department also helps students find monies needed to continue their education and helpful advice on all aspects of obtaining a quality education. The Welfare Department supports the care of orphans and widows particularly in the church and communities we have our crusades. The department also ensure the complete well-being of displaced children that they may attain a life that is whole and declared through years of posterity. At the heart of our work is a strong resolve to transform the lives of displaced and vulnerable children especially in the church. In line with our Christian faith we have compassion for those the world ignores. Our lifelong commitment is therefore to work to alleviate spiritual and material poverty, directly and indirectly. The Welfare Department is to serve and work to enable vulnerable and displaced children to live an abundant, self-sufficient life that is free from social, physical, economical and spiritual inequity or injustice. Our Christian values is the belief that aid must be given regardless of race, religion, nationality or gender.
